Boardman was founded in the late 1780’s by Elijah Boardman, and is located just south of Youngstown. Early on, the city was known as an agricultural community, but due to its convenient location, Boardman Township saw a spike in development by the early 1900’s, ultimately establishing the highly active suburban area known today.
